From a young age, the arts were my playmates—sketching from my mind's eye, influenced by a lineage of self-taught artists. My father, a photographer, handed me a camera when I was just nine, sparking a journey not of capturing what was, but what could be. He urged me to move beyond imitation at the tender age of four, challenging me to draw from within. This pivotal moment defined my artistic trajectory, steering me away from replication towards original creation.
My work, unshaped by formal study, emerges purely from an internal dialogue with my surroundings and emotions. During a challenging recovery from a head injury amidst the solitude of COVID, my art unexpectedly evolved, blooming with colors that I chose not by the rules of a wheel, but by the feel they stirred within. This transition to incorporating vibrant hues was a leap, driven by intuition rather than technique, reflecting a newfound liberty in my expression.
The themes I explore are transient, a reflection of fleeting internal responses to the world around me, making my portfolio eclectic. Some say my art recalls Picasso or Basquiat—icons I only looked up after others saw echoes of their genius in my lines. Yet, I draw not from their wells but from my own depths, ensuring that every piece, while it may inadvertently echo the greats, is unmistakably mine. My art is a testament to living truthfully, an unfiltered expression of my inner world.
